powerglide out racing trans in ?

In my ump mod i have a direct drive powerglide built with a jw case, ultra-bell, extra 2 quart pan, trans cooler, drive flange and sleeve with a push start valve. Which is all good "but" i can't help to think what the difference would be if i went to a brinn, bert etc.. More HP, weight off the car.... ? Any experience with this or thoughts. Thanks.

I went from a direct drive glide to a falcon few years back. I felt like I gained some throttle response from the change. Mostly any tranny problems I had with the glide went away. By far one of the best investments I made.

I had a powerglide for my first 11 races in an imca mod. Then bought a falcon. Best decision I have made to date with this car. Night and day.

I'm hope with the loss of weight switching transmissions plus losing a lot of the rotating mass will help me pick up a little more HP and speed.
