will metric impala lowers fit a metric chassis and are they longer than metric lowers

No, they will not bolt on. The mounting width is different. They are longer. The only stock lower that will bolt on is the rear steer Nova-Camaro lower.
Impala 71-96 (big GM)
Camaro 70-81 (Firebird)
Chevelle 73-77 (mid size Regal-Cutlass-Lemans)
Ford Crown Vic 79-02 (rwd big Lincoln-Merc)
These model all share the same mounting width. The Impala-Camaro-mid size Chevelle are all identical lowers. The Fords are about an inch longer.
