Someone please correct me if I am wrong. The spring is designed to work on compression and the more compression, the stiffer it becomes. Under deceleration you have a biscuit to absorb the braking shock. The spring will provide the same amount of force to decompress it as it took to compress it, unlike a shock absorber. I hope this helps.

The three way pull-bar is designed to use a linear spring. It's progressive by design. The spring collapeses to a point and then hits the biscuits. They can be adjusted to when it starts to load the biscuits in relation to spring travel.Bill W. and Dr. Bob......who could have known.
