    2007 Shaw Drive Shaft Length

Recently bought a 2007 mod. Had a brinn when we got it. I'm going to be running in an emod class which requires a 3 speed and a mini clutch. Got it all installed tonight and the driveshaft that came with the car is too long. It bottoms out in the tail housing before it fits the pinion with about 2" of shaft still out of transmission. 30.5" shaft with a 5.5" yoke. The car is on jack stands with the rear end hanging. Do I need a shorter shaft or a shorter yoke?

Sounds like they gave you a shaft for another car, the Brinn is the same length as the 3speed. Jack the rear up and put the shaft in and set it at r/h see how much is out of the transmission at that point

Sounds like it had a Bert in it, they are 2" shorter than a Brinn/3 speed your car should take a 29.5" with an 8" yoke

I agree with big88fan... my first thoughts upon opening this thread... it probably had a Bert not a Brinn. Bert is the only odd-ball I know of being shorter than stock GM length setup. My 2006 Shaw with a Falcon also takes exactly 29.5" shaft with an 8" yoke.

Thanks guys. Got it all figured out and no problems the past race night. Ended up with a 28.5" shaft with an 8" yoke. Still have plenty of shaft in at ride height and get full travel. The 29.5" bottomed out with the 8" yoke in the saginaw.
