How to tech for CI?

Just a quick question -- I'm new to most of this stuff as I've said before.

How do tech officials check for CI at the track? For instance in divisions that have 358 CI limits, etc.

I think they can do a cylinder volume test. I dunno if they use water or air volume from an spark plug hole

P&G gauge or pull a head and measure.
