Shock Placement Question

I am new to mods this year but come from a dirt racing background running micro sprints. We recently acquired a 2008 Hassy chassis which is currently set up as a 3 link clamped up car. I was wondering was the difference was whether you mounted the shocks in front or behind the rear axle. I just bought a set of Integra shocks and get more shock travel with the mount that is in front of the left rear. Thanks in advanced.

In front of axle = provides more dampening, will need less compression than a rear mounted shock, has more travel Hope this helps
