    tire question

Either on a thread on here or in an article in a magazine I was reading about some tracks having a tire rule where you could only buy one tire a week. Can't find it again and was wondering how they would police this rule. Anybody have an idea?

A lot of asphalt tracks you can only race on tires that are purchased from the track, so they limit a driver to buying one new tire per race week. That is where that rule comes from. Just trying to cut costs and keep guys from spending $1000 on tires per week.

This is starting to sound worse that NASCAR.

If they would open the market to what ever tire you wanted the price would plummet as the free market competition would dictate.

No the price would sky rocket... the fastest tire would cost the most.

Last year a local track allowed non stamped hoosier g 60s they were known to be faster and they were sold for 10 bucks more each.. They are no longer allowed there, but racers are still dealing with them because you have to have them at any non sanctioned tracks that don't specify must be imca stamped... or your just burning up fuel and time.

Yeah, open tire is great for the fun runners but bad (possibly very very bad) for people trying to win.
