    B Mod help with gearing

We run a little 2bbl motor against crates. Its our first year and we can run towards the front but there are a couple cars who dont seem to labor like ours and we cant catch them but were not far behind. My question is should i try a higher gear (lower number) ? We run a 583 with a brinn. Ford type rear end. Not quick change. Turn maybe 6800. When the track blows off even a little. We blow the tires clean off it and its frustrating. The car handles awesome and goes thru the turns as good as you can expect . Im wondering if maybe go down to 564 and see if we can still turn 6800. 3/8 mile. Im all ears to anybody who would care to help. Our motor man says were done making power at 7000. But we cant even keep the tires under it at 6500. There has to something im missing. Our motor makes more hp on paper than the crate. Its a good piece. So i dont think were out motored. Anyway. Thanks in advance .

Usually when the track slows down you put more gear in it

Sounds like chassis problem not gear. Post your setup, and see if we can help.
