Try going with a softer bushing. That would allow it to absorb some of the torque rather than transferring it to the tires. Or you could lower the entire pull bar a little bit

Just throwing this out there, but this sounds like this could be a driver issue with this bigger motor. In your post you say starts and restarts he struggles, but in the feature he was closing in on third. That makes me think he's too hard on the throttle on starts and restarts, but settles down on longer runs. Maybe just needs more laps to get used to this motor. JMO

I'd say it's virtually undriveable from a slow rolling start. That baby is peaking in the mid sixes. Going to be tough without just gearing the thing like a passenger car.

This motor came about because of too many second places last season (it was a short season for us). We decided over the winter that we would go back with something that would give more on that big track than our spec head motor was doing. Maybe we over did it a little. But for those that have never been to the Bowl it takes some HP to be a top car there.

never saw a car with too much motor, but I have seen plenty with the throttle too far open!!!!!

one often overlooked tuning tool is the gas petal stroke.
too short and motor is like a light switch.
make sure throttle petal moves 4-5" full sweep
the more the merrier it sounds like in this case.
I think there should be lifeguards in the genepool.

Take some timing out of it.

smaller carb would more than likely increase throttle response, but kill some top end power.

You have the same set up as me. Know what I did. No one believed me but the first night with the cars new motor I unhooked the secondaries and won heat and feature. Second race I threw on a 350 2 barrel and swept the show again. Also turned no more than 6100rpm on the 1/4 mile track. LMFAO and pissed a whole lot of people off hahahahhahahahha. It's still unbelievable but the Darn thing has a 350 Holley on it. Pure stocks turned more RPMs than we did that night. It's truly sad and so misunderstood these days.

Well, it is better. Indexed the LR into the spring as suggested. Took the RF spring to 625. It is still going onto the RF a bit too much though so going with a 650 and see how it does.

But definetly has some drive now.

Short bars that index fast on LR for me. Get it there quick and keep it there. I don't like the LR lazy staying up. Also, may try raising mount on birdcage for where your slider goes.
