metal shavings in rear

I just recently purchased a brand new floater and third member. After breaking in the gear and a night of racing, there is metal shavings in the fluid. Is this from breaking in the gear or is there a serious problem?

how much shavings? how big a shavings are thay?

With everything being new, a small amount of fine metal would be normal. I'd be concerned of larger pieces. Did the gear oil smell burnt or looked discolored?

Real fine shavings, no chunks or blocks or anything like that. The oil still looks new.

Should be fine......drain and put new oil in!
