Aluminum block porosity

Do you guys running aluminum blocks have problems with porosity, holding a vacuum when running a dry sump, excessive blow-by, etc.

I'm asking because theirs a discussion on another board about alloy blocks being junk...

ive never herd of it , i have only dealt with major brands like dart, brodex , ford motor sports and such , with some of these cheaper knock off,s , it could be possible i guess , what block are they talking about?

Dart, Donovan, Brodix, RHS etc. ( name brand ) cast aluminum blocks have proven themselves in every form of racing. Maybe this comes from people that don't understand what has to be done differently when using an aluminum block. Thermal expansion really messes with your head on some of the clearances even valve lash.

Look at it like this, if they were all junk, then the major engine builders would refuse to build engines using them wouldn't they ? Bet most all of the " haters" have no issues running aluminum heads...… Just sayin....

One point made was an Alloy block moves enough to lose 50 hp in use....alloy heads are not the best at containing heat (heat = HP) either. Looks like one guy has a hard-on for aluminum.

That guy may be having a hard time making power. The weight reduction benefit would make up for any loss he would see on his dyno. Been there and done the dyno wars too many times.
Seen what looked like a winning pieces on the dyno run like a 3 legged dogs on the track and engines that just didn't look like they would do anything end up being some of the best.
People get caught up in dyno numbers, when a dyno is just a tuning tool. Never seen a dyno win a circle track race before.
