We have a bert ballspline and at our last race all of the fluid from the reservoir ended up in the trans. Any ideas on what happened? Does anyone know of a good rebuilder in S.Georgia? Thanks.

i would think the only way clutch fluid could get into the trans. would be the rubber plunger is letting the fluid out,good luck! -

if the trany has no other issues this is a very easy repair the rubber cur seal is cheap and anyone with a 3/8 allen wrench and a 5/8 boxed end wrench can do it. just pull trany and bellhousing place them on a work bench with the tail shaft up pull the bolts and the shifter rod mounts/or hiems on the older berts then pop the tail cover loose they are sealed so it will take a little effort once it's loose the tail housing will pull straight up.now with slight air pressure plow the plugger(aluminum slug) and the cup seal out ther's a tin plate and a spring in ther also (just like a wheel cylinde) just put it all back together as it came a part. I repair berts,brinn and the dreaded falcon here at my shop it's about a 30 minute repair thers nothing that the brake fuid can hurt inside your trany so just flush it out with atf and go racing.Comment

I have an older Bert transmission that has the issue of going in to "HIGH" and "REVERSE" at the same time occasionally. Totally locks it up when this happens. Works fine other than this issue. It generally happens when I'm in a hurry trying to knock it out of high, and I guess I'm hitting both levers at the same time on accident.
While being rebuild, I've had another transmission updated to fix this problem, but is that something I could do myself easily on this other Bert ?
