Engine was just freshened, had 28 laps on it when it blew. 406 SBC 23*, dart little m block, callies stealth crank, crower h beams. Blew at end of straight. Rods on 2nd throw of crank are both broke. The breaks are just below the wrist pins and right above big end of rod. Pulled the pan and found the both rod caps and large ends. One large end had no bolts broken off in it and the other had both of the bolts broken off in the large end. We could turn the broken bolts in the threads with out fingers. Found one complete undamaged rod bolt in the pan (along with a ton of other debris). The motor was turning 8k rpm prior to letting go. Oil pressure was 60lbs/28lbs at idle when hot.
Is it likely that the engine builder did not get the rod bolts torqued by what I am describing?(I have had another problem with this guy putting the wrong dome pistons in the wrong hole causing it to scatter a valve.)
