Parent teacher night was rough. My son's teacher said he can't sit still and loses focus constantly, and she hinted at ADHD. I have no clue where to start, pediatrician or some specialist? Does anyone know a good read explaining if psychological testing is necessary and which professional actually performs it? Thanks!

School feedback like that can catch you completely off guard, especially when you're not sure whether it's just typical childhood energy or something worth investigating. My nephew went through a similar situation last year, and his parents spent weeks confused about which specialist to contact. They eventually started by speaking with his pediatrician. I also found this article therapist vs psychologist salary and education helpful because it explains the roles of different professionals and when psychological testing may be useful. Might save you some guesswork!
