Hello everyone:
I am looking into installing an engine oil cooler on my pavement late model and welcome the forum's wisdom.
The basic info: Iron 350 SBC, wet sump Moroso 6 qt pan (#21314), Moroso high volume oil pump, Royal Purple 40wt synthetic oil, flat tappet, roller rockers, 650 4 bbl, etc. Nothing too special, racing on 1/4 mile med bank track, turning 6200 rpm.
I don't have an oil temp problem now, it is between 220-240 by the end of a 40 lap feature. This being established, I am planning to run some 150 lap events on a 3/8 mile high bank track and want to be prepared.
I have a good quality 12" x 9" cooler and Moroso block adapter, both have 1/2" NPT ports. Are -10 lines sufficient for a 6 foot run, or should I start with -12 hardware?
I am planning to use this cooler because I have it, would it be better in the long run to invest in a radiator with a heat exchanger built into it?
I can certainly see the mounting and plumbing benifits.
Thanks again for reading.
RR
