Small cap or HEI dist?

New distributor for the IMCA stock, looking into a small cap dist.

Looking at that one, maybe with the blaster 2 coil.

Or would an HEI be better still?

And would that infamous 5.0 mustang coil be a good match for that dist?

Roy, I would stay away from any generic ignition products. I tried a few different brands a few years ago before I went to msd. The quality just isnt there in those products.

The ford coil packs a punch you can run it on a hei even with a remote coil adapter cover on top of the hei. Ive been running that coil for 4-5 years and the spark is HUGE...

thanks jeff. my accel hei crapped out after two years, so im looking into my options. i like the remote coil, get it mounted out of the way where it cant get covered in junk. Also, having to have a drop base air cleaner that smaller cap would keep the air cleaner from rubbing on the cap, even though its an offset.

I would get a msd box and dist.

Ive picked them up for 50-75 each at swap meets in the winter.

alrighty, im gonna get the dist and coil this week since I have 3 nights then two days later another two nights of racing.

What year of mustang coil do you run? and how do you mount it?

I went to O Reilly's and bought a coil for a 1990 mustang 5.0 After I got it, it is the same coil that is on my 1988 F250 with a 351w. I made an aluminum plate, cut a square hole in the center of it to fit the coil in, drilled holes to match the coil pattern, bolted it on with #12 machine screws. THen just found a place under the guage cover in our mod, beside the pedals and bolted the plate to the chassis. Its really alot simpler than it sounds, took me about 30 minutes total.
