i think new pulleys grip better. the new pro series pulleys are bigger in dia. and have more contact area with the belt. they are also hard coated. i've found this year i almost never have to retighten my belt due to slippage which was a problem for me last year with the 19" 4 blade fan. krc told me that their tensioner system also will help that issue.

If it is a V belt check the width on the belt also. Had one that started having issues out of the blue and the only difference was new belts from one week to the next. After checking the system we found the new belt was narrower at the top of the belt. The bottom was the same width (he bought 2 new after breaking one at the track) and we were measuring the new belt. This was allowing the belt to not fit the pulley and letting it slip. The ones he had were from a local parts house, he went to Napa and bought new belts and the problem went away.

i usually dont agree with ego on many things, however, in this case he is right. check the belts. even though they are the "same" the top width of the belt can vary from one production run to another or company to company. we had the same problem he is referring to.

yes i'd go with the pro series..they dont wear near as fast and my guess is its due to less slippage and the hard coating. i've switched both cars and had good luck so far. i know some guys that were switching the old style pulleys out after 1/2 season.

FYI you are wrong again, Please quit acting like you know everything because you do not. KRC started making V belt sets and continues to make them. The post was for information only as it has happened.

            Straight from KRC:
KRC 20102000 water pump V-belt drive pulley kit will reduce the power steering pump speed by 42%, Making it ideal for cast iron pumps being run on high RPM engines. This kit will save you power on restricted engines because it will conserve 42% of the power it takes to operate your steering pump. It will also increase the life of your pump by reducing fluid temperature

I never said you did run v belts I only posted IF it was V belts and again I posted it for someone who read it that did not know that the width could be an issue. I never posted anything directly to you. If you do not want to see my posts all you have to do is ignore me by clicking one link, there is NO need to resort to cursing and calling names like a child as there are younger persons on here reading and learning so please act lik an adult.

Not even close, I just posted info that we had issues with and he had to get offensive about it and posted incorrect information. I could care less if he reads any of my posts and he can even use the ignore option on the board to ignore my posts but he chooses not to and to call names and act like a child.

no doubt hes still trying to measure up in any way he can, hes been wrong so many times in the past and had to dissapear from those threads, hes gotta try and side track any thread and hope to be right at least once, lol...

I cant understand why he wont answer what I have to do to get rid of him, hes like a parasite. I cant even have a conversation with a guy whos pm box is full on here without him adding his worthless irrelevant 99 cents than sticking around trying to argue that his info was needed or usefull.

I dont have V belts, dont give a rats ass about V belts only V belts I have are on my Jeepster and Rv.

I had serpentine on my 1st Road Hawg car (89 Caprice), and found that the Micro V's had to be cleaned of accumulated dirt a couple times a year

Never tried any aftermarket serp on anything except my 600hp Tony Barker powered pump gas 406 small block 63 Impala street rod

I actually prefer the V's on the race car

we like the V belts because they are what we have always used lol. no reason other than that. and i know that i can call the local napa guy and he can get me into the store even when they arent open to get me a belt or two if i need them. we always keep a couple of spares now, but you just never know.
