    400 5.565 rodded motor questions

i run a pure stock and have found a 400 but it has 5.565 rodded cast pistons
i have heard stories about those pistons pull the pins out .i would only be turning it 5300-5700 .would it last at that rpm or should i just wait till winter and build it 5.7 or 6.0 forged? i know most guys will say nothing but he best parts but we are limited on what we can run.no aftermarket lite wt. cranks, pistons and run a stock appearing rod .no camelback, vortecs,or darts. 10.5 to 1 compression,410 lift cam ,vacuum15 inches.

I ran a stock bottom end, 5.565 rod, 400 for the past two years in a 'factory' stock class (nothing factory about 'em). It's what I had to run and we won a few races with it. Turned it around 6500. Be conservative on your timing and you will be ok.

It will work for a while, maybe 1 night maybe 20 never really know.

I would build it with flat top pistons and 5.7 rods so you can get closer to the 10.5 compression rule. What is your head rule? Can you run double humps, those would be my choice or vortecs depending on budget.

Ive got some nice humps for sale for 300 ready to bolt on, all good parts I just dont use them anymore so Im willing to sell them cheap to help someone else out.

we cant run camelhumps or vortecs but i have a set of 041 heads 202 160 no porting 2bbl rochester must pass guages it has stock cast dish originals in it.i know lots of variables go into timing but would 30-32 be ballpark ?

With Vortecs 32 is in the ballpark with standard 23 degree heads 36 is where you want to be.
