    cam and head selection

we have a 355 that was built as a 2-barrel motor. would like to change out the cam and heads. its our back-up motor and would like to get more out of it as a 4-barrel motor. this is what is in it.

    crank- eagle 3.50 stroke 48#
rods- eagle lightweight h-beams 6.0 length
pistons- j&e 1.25 comp height dome pistons
    rockers- 1.5 scorpion
    cam- elgin 1090
    heads- rhs pro action 170cc 1.96 1.50
    intake- brodix hvh

would like to know what my best option is to wake this motor up.
i race on a 1/5 mile track on hoosier e-mods tires.
    any help would be appreciated

If the rules dont allow roller then keep that cam! Its a cheap but unbelievable piece! Compression and some flow is all your needing. Find some better heads like Iron Eagles or similar with 220-230 runners and bring that comp ratio up.

As mentioned bigger heads around 220cc, maybe a set of Bowtie Vortec heads., cam specs would depend on rpm range. A roller cam if allowed and feasible $$$ wise, as I see this is a backup motor. More rocker ratio helps wake any engine up with the correct cam to go with it. Bottom end I would leave alone you already have forged dome pistons so getting compression shouldn't be an issue, (you would probably have to change pistons for the vortecs).

That cam is more of a 4 barrel cam if you asked me.

Ive got some KILLER rhs cnc ported heads if you want to wake that baby up!! 61cc chambers with some hand work in there and 216 or 219 runners I dont remember.

I had them built for a dome motor I had and sold it before I got them. I did bolt them on my flat top motor and dyno them just to compare and wow do they make some power.. I gained 30hp below 6500 and 50 over 6500 with a big two barrel a 4 barrel would gain even more.

        email me if your interested.

I also have a used ready to run set complete Ill sell.
