    What kind of fan...

I have to downsize and need guidence...

I myself have used plastic from the beginning and have never had an issue. Now that being said thats in las vegas where its 100* or more in the summer come race time and never really ran over 210-220 and it would cool down when I ran it about 1500-1800 around track. I ran an 18" flexalite rated to 8000 rpm. Now with the new body style and angle I have to mount the radiator Im forced to go from an 18" fan to a 15" fan... Im looking to pull as much air as I can no matter the hp gain or loss since overheating and ruining an engine is not worth the 10hp... Again I have never had an issue but going from 18" to 15" is a big drop and as I said need to evaluate my options can use direction...

Danny, we are going to go from a 19" to a 15" to reduce the air flow so the engine will keep heat in it at idle..I spoke with Steve Hendren about this last week. We are probably going to go with the CV Products steel 4 blade 15" with the 32* pitch that they make...He said it is a great fan, rated to 10,000 rpm. We have in the past used the Performance Bodies 19" 4 blade steel fans, in fact that is what we have now..They are around $45 or so

i use the cv products 15" 4 blade fan. its pulls alot of air for its small size. it keeps my motor cool in all but the hottest weather...then i switch to a 19" 4 blade fan for extra insurance.

FYI....I did back to back pulls on the dyno with a 17" plastic and 17" steel blade/aluminum hub fan. The plastic fan lost torq under 4,000 rpm and did not gain any hp up to 7,000 rpm. Made 3 pulls with each fan....couldnt believe it. Thought for sure the light weight fan would gain something. Eric

SRX we have also had the same result on the pump. The light weight fans that you have to replace all the time are not HP to cost effective. They are a gimmick in my book like the flow through air cleaner tops that actually COST you HP all across the board

I wonder how the plastic fan responds to throttle response. Do the lightweight fans accelerate quicker even though they didn't show any gain in power on your dyno pulls?

The only real advantage to plastic if you can run one is the stuff you tear up if the fan comes in contact with something. The plastic fan usually breaks eats away and saves parts. Other than that, most won't cool properly.
