best motor combo for a two barrel class

The rules say the carb (4412) must be gauge legal so if that is a standard size ok...
I want to know what would be the best combonation Im also cosidering the rhs 14 degree heads.. Should I build it big 420 ci or smaller cause of the carb.... It is a wiered class full blown latemodel chassis spec tire 3 different motor packages and weight rules are 604 at 2300 lbs ...... 363 10-1 with any 750 carb 2400lbs... or any all steel with a gauge legal 4412 2 barrel at 2400....... let me know what you think would work the best thanks

If you decide to go with the 360 option......I have a rotating assembly for sale. Forged GM 1182 crank (std rods, .010 mains), eagle 6" H beam rods, JE flat top pistons. All balanced and ready to install.

you can build it as big as you want but the carb is you limiting devise here . big C.I.D motors need to breath and it don't matter witch engine you put it on the 4412 will only flow what its capable of pulling though it. that's just my opinion

even a 500cfm carb is to small for a well built 350

CID x RPM x V.E. / 2820 = CFM
350CID x 7500RPM x .9V.E / 2820 = 837 CFM

604 at 2300 lbs ...... 363 10-1 with any 750 carb 2400lbs... or any all steel with a gauge legal 4412 2 barrel at 2400.

Assuming the 363ci max combo is also steel headed, I would go with the 604 combo
If 363 combo is allowed Alum head's......It's a no brainer.......

1: 100 lbs weight break
2: 70 lbs off nose of car due to aluminum heads.

A all steal 355-363ci @ 10-1 with a 750 carb .... probably around 525-550hp @ 7,500+ RPM..........

I have a friend that runs a 283 ci engine! He is very fast!!! (spent alot of cash on the combo too) What ever you do if it is a 4412 motor only, you must put as much compression in it as it will take! Minimum would be 14 to one! You can also run a 20% methanol carb (C&S). It is undetectable with a gravity gauge! It will lower engine temp by a bit and get you about twenty horse.

What kind of power range (RPM) does your friends engine operate in? I have considered a high windin' 302 inch SB combo w/ 4412.
