I would use either a Scat I beam or a rebuilt OEM rod. Anything more is overkill.

depends on the rules and budget. i'd go with the lightest rod possible if allowed. probe has some 560 gram i beams for just under $400 that i use alot. if price and rules dont allow i'd go with scat pro comp i beams.

The pro mod rod is a nice budget rod for say, a motor making 500 horse or more. I'd consider it overkill for a B-mod though.. unless it was a B-Mod on alcohol with aftermarket heads making big power.

If you get a light rod make sure you get a light piston or your looking at trouble. Heavy piston light rod = bent rods at high rpms and a pain to balance

We're thinking of two different rods then. The Pro Mod rod would be with 7/16 bolts similar to an Oliver in design. The rods that I would run would be the standard off the shelf Scat.

The Pro Mod is also called the Pro-Comp rod by Scat. When I was using them, they were called the Pro Mod Rod. My balance sheet from a motor I did in 08 shows the rod total weight was 612 Grams. 2.1" Pin, 6" in length. Scat or Eagle standard I Beam with cap screws or thru bolts. It all depends on your budget and rules.

yes the pro comps i was refering to are the scats with the 7/16 capscrews. very nice rod for less than $300, and they weigh almost the same as the cheaper scats. overkill never hurt anybody the probes are much lighter as i said. they are also sold under other names like competition products, rpm ect..

They have lightened the design since I last used them... Yes that's another option for a rod under $300.

There was a place selling some really light I Beams but can't remember where it was for under $200.

How about the eagle sir rods. I have used them in 3 engines and had good luck, but they are about 350 hp max. Any opinion ,good or bad about them?

Those are the rods that I am thinking you guys are referring to. The rods you have Jeff would be fine, but I've gotten plenty of use out of the standard Scat stuff that costs around $200.

With the IMCA rule that you can't have cap screw rods, it really limits you. Wish they'd lift that rule, a lot more motors would be legal then from other flat top 9-1 rules.

Yeah, those Scats I sent the link too are what I have ran in my A Mod before. I'm going to try the rods you've got in my next piece though.

I just read the rules and they did change them. I didn't keep up on them after I moved up. Cap Screws back in. I like that idea.

i wish we could run those l/w rods with the imca 360 engine option. i'd use those in a heartbeat.
