i talked to tom at imca about a month ago and he said i beams only, and no i beam that has been machined on the face or sides of the beam. must have oem type forging line like the cheaper scats eagles ect. you know how imca is with rules..takes them years to figure out 1 simple thing.

Seen many discussions on the pro/con of H beam vs. I beam and stretching vs. compression forces...Speedtalk Advanced Engine forums and Yellow Bulletforums have had many in depth discussions about this. In the end it came to a draw, that properly designed rods with the correct material will work, weather H or I beam. We run an I beam billet rod and they are going on their 5th season. Just keep magnafluxing them after 1200 laps.Comment

That's why I suggested the rod that I did. Must look OEM in IMCA. Those H Beam rod motors won't make it at Nationals.Curious that we spend more time congratulating people who have succeeded than encouraging people who have not.Comment

There are plenty of better paying races. That's not the point.
OEM or OEM Replacement Rods, 5.7 or 6" Cap Screw Allowed. I'd say it is pretty clear that an OEM Replacement isn't an H Beam rod.Curious that we spend more time congratulating people who have succeeded than encouraging people who have not.Comment

And if a guy wants to put H Beam rods in a flat top motor making less than 450 horsepower more power to him, but it won't pass tech in IMCA. One thing they did that I think is stupid with the rules on crankshaft was dis-allow the Scat 9000 cast deal. I guess what I read from IMCA was wrong then, that the Scat 9000 crankshaft commonly used was illegal due to the crank counterweights. That part number is the cast replacement.

SCD, you got a great price on those rods...Right now a set of Crower Ti rods are right at $3,500 a set after discount and the Trick Ti rods weigh 414 grams each...$3,000 and under 400 grams...smokin deal...Are they Chinese Ti rods or USA? I see there are a lot of Chinese Ti rods starting to hit the market...Comment
