SBC carb and engine issue

Started motor this year with a different carb (demon carb). It is a roller cam motor on alky. It has a throttle bypass with proper fuel pressure. It would start and run with the idle turned up but would not idle normally. I timed it after letting the temp come up. The carb was leaking from the rear bowl accelerator pump. It was hung up. Once freed up I fired it again. The leak continued so shut it down again. This time I could see the fuel level go down through the site window. I am sure the needle and seat were stuck open. So I took it apart and cleaned it up before putting it back together. The next start had white smoke coming out of the header at initial start up. Stopped again. Pulled all the plugs. Two were wet and not firing on the side of the engine that had the smoke. I am sure they were fuel fouled from all the fuel dumping in. My question after all of that is, would the carb flooding cause the fouled plug side to smoke due to fuel being in the header? My other thought is that it blew a head gasket due to the carb problem. However, no loss of water in radiator and the oil was not contaminated. Carb is pulled to be changed. What are your thoughts? I was going to run a compression check on each of the cylinders on that side. The motor has 6 total nights on it last year total. It ran without any problems all six nights. I know the carb needs rebuilt or replaced. I just can't imagine anything going bad from sitting for a few months.

You should be fine. The only thing I would worry about would be oil dilution. I would change it before firing the engine again. If it is going to be a few days till you fire it again then I would go ahead and change the oil now. You don't want to have that alky sitting in the pan.
