Obviously you haven't seen a modern dry sump pan. Just like tires, chassis, or engines, they vary that much.Originally posted by Graff Spee View PostHave you ever looked inside a dry sump pan? Theres nothing to them. I would use one in a heart beat! You will be fine!
Early into dry sump usage, dry sumps got a bad rep, because of neglect on pan design. The "Phil Heany" 4" deep pan, with 2 sawed off tubes for pickups (2 "10 outlets), were all that people thought were necessary. From that pan, to a better designed one, say, 3 pickups, with wet sump type "box" pickups, and a 4" kickout (our BASIC pan), is as much as 50 HP around 8000.
On an engine limited to certain strict regulations, I can't think of a better example of not needing to leave so much power "on the table". TB

I don't know what Tony uses for his pans, but we have had really good luck with Dan Olsen pans...Hi quality work and everything fits easily...Can you run aluminum or do you have to run a steel pan?

You may be correct. I am looking at a stainless Nascar sb2.2 pan off of one of our engines that is four or five years old and yes it does have a full kick out but then it just has a windage screen. Just sayinOriginally posted by sj valley dave View PostI'm sure you'll be fine...@ Graff..If you looked into our aluminum Dan Olsen DLM dry sump pan you would not say there is nothing to it! LOL

i have two for sale one stainless sb2 for 5 stage one steel bowtie for 4 stage. from what i know about them the bigger the better. a quality pan will have sections for every crank throw w a windage tray and box type screen pickups as far away from the crank as possible. those old school tiny block huggers = lost hp. in my humble opinion. can pick either of mine up for 150.
