Listen to your builder he will steer you right. I quit posting much because I hate the longest (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) contests.

I said that when we set then cold with our iron engines, they pretty much stayed the same hot, but if they did anything they would loosen up a couple thou or so...I really do not care what Comp says...We set them hot and let them cool off and they tightened up a couple of thou when they COOLED off...Did NOT tighten up when they got to temp...An aluminum headed engine, or an all aluminum engine just makes it more pronounced...A cast iron block will grow more than the steel valve train, thus increasing lash when it gets up to temp...End of discussion on my part...Seen it over the years..again, don't care what Comp/GM says SHOULD happen...didn't happen and this was on 6 or so all iron deals with Dart heads, 010 GM blocks...

yall can measure ya peckers all ya want but its a scientific fact that metal expands when hot,...within all my studies an experance's,..you set lash cold,...crank it up,..warm it up brake it in,...an set final lash hot,..the motor gonna operate hot an when hot is when lash needs to be most correct,..dont matter what lash is cold,..with all that said every motor ive set lash on from 855 ci diesels to 158cc 4wheeler motors,...lash get lil tighter when temps come up....if it gettin losser,..your valve train, rockers an push rods must be glowin red hot!!...an just cause some ones a big (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) dont mean thay got a big pecker,..lest thats what she said!!
