602 crate rebuild questions

I have found a 602 crate engine for real cheap. The engine currently needs a rebuild, I am using it for a backup engine for my bomber racecar so there is no need for the break off bolts or any of the crate rules.
My question is, what kind of components do I need for the rebuild on this, can I use all aftermarket stuff or is it made for GM stuff only? I would think rings, bearings, gaskets etc. from an aftermarket company would do it, whats your thoughts?

after market be fine,..an cheaper too!! lot better after market valve springs too!

Make sure to have the cam checked on a cam doctor and inspected for nose wear if you plan on re-using it. if you do, buy new lifters and break in with the stock springs and then change to better springs. Change out the oil pump to a Melling HV-55 with heavy spring in it. Ring pak is very important on those pistons and there has been 2 styles and now 3 so you have to get the right rings. I also sell a stock replica spring I call "outlaw" that I sell for non-rules applications that allow aftermarket springs.

A good 7 angle calve job can pick up almost 20-25HP so make sure you have someone with 602 experience help you there. ( not legal for Fastrak or NeSmith ) In your application it should be fine.

If you need any parts I have just about everything on hand and have built plenty of 602's that will give stock 604's a run for their money.

I strongly recommend GM's gasket pak, it might cost a little more but it is better than any aftermarket stuff you can get. The pan gasket alone will cost you $50 in another brand and they are not even close in quality. Head gaskets are another consideration as the GM ones are hi-quality. No chinese stuff in there....YET.
