Valve lash issue...

I have a problem with keeping the valve lash to stay after setting it. No matter how or what I do it seems to loosen on the intakes and tighten on exhaust. I normally set it cold and once I run it up to operating temp then after it cools I recheck and bam its way off! What could be the reason they are coming out of adjustment? Running a solid cam with poly locks and a stud girdle.

Yes, it was same I did re adjust hot this time havent checked either... Ill check both tomorrow.

So how should I do it? From set to check ect...

As I have said in other threads: I never have been shown how to properly set them only been told and read...

When we ran stud mounted rockers with girdles, I would just loosen the girdle enough to adjust the poly lock. After setting the lash and tightening down the girdle for that rocker, I would re check. If it loosened up the lash, whatever amount, I would loosen the girdle slightly, tighten down the lash the amount, re tighten the girdle and then check it again...When you are done, all lash should be correct after the girdle is tight and you should not see much movement race to race...I would check before each race and we would go races before adjustment was needed....Always did the..."As the exhaust just breaks open, check that intake, turn engine over 90* until next cylinder in order's exhaust breaks open and set that intake...After all intakes are done...Pick a cylinder, when that cylinders intake has opened all the way and is about 1/2-2/3 closed, set that cylinders exhaust, turn over 90* and do the next cylinder..." way

I will give it a shot, I didnt think the girdle would mess with it after its set but hopefully that does it! Ill let you know how it goes. None of my other motors had girdles, talk about a learning curve lol

Over the years, a few of my customers used stud girdles. I HAD to check the lash after tightening the girdle. The girdle would change the lash a couple thousands here or there. But as said earlier, after set, shouldn't change much if everything is working properly.

Only time girdles effected my lash was when the studs in my head werent put in well. ie straight

All my other sets of heads the lash stayed the same with girdle on or off.
