stumble on restarts

during last weeks race my car would stumble really bad on restarts, after the car got going it was fine, never missed a beat. i tried clearing it out right before the start and that didnt help, i even tried holding in the clutch and bringing the RPM's up and it didnt work. checked all connections, plugs, float level, where should i look?

I have the same problem, I hope you find it. My issue seems to be fuel related, and starts acting up as the engine heats up above 200. My carb builder told me my fuel pressure was too high at 8 psi for a rochester 2G, so I will be installing a fuel pressure regulator and going back to the track in a couple of weeks.

Go up one size on the squrter first, front side,if it still does it go down.(Up seems to fix most times) Also with the 4 corner idle screws, engine running,start with rr corner turn the screw in motor should pickup idle,as soon as it does stop. Go to lr screw,do the same,then the front.turn idle down as it goes up from each adj.
This gets the carb lean,and as crisp for a good restart. Mixture screws souldnt be left all the way in,so take your time. Most carb shops ship with them 1 turn to 11/2 out. I think 1/2 to 3/4 should be a min setting. Dont leave them turned all the way in.
This has worked for me. Try a larger squrter for sure. One size at a time.

If your carb has a secondary idle adj,set the idle with that,not the front. willys is the only one i have seen with that. Spray some carb cleaner thru the air bleed jets weekly. Sometimes dirt gets in them. Good racing.

Hi idle fuel pressure is a no no. Use a regulator. 6 to 7 idle for a holley is good. I don't trust one gauge. Try to put one on carb also. Jap quality sucks.
