Alcohol and hypereutectic pistons

Wondering if I built a motor using these pistons if it will work? And how how much durability there will be?

GM 604's have been running OK with E-85, even though most crate racers do not PM their engines enough on E-85.

I would opt for a qualify piston and get one coated if you can as the Alcohol runs very dry and should actually be run with top-end lube in the fuel.

The best way to keep an alcohol engine happy is crank it with RaceGas after every race and then load the alcohol back in on race day. It is a hygroscopic fuel ( picks up water ), and if left in the fuel cell will deteriorate over a period of a week.

If you want to prove it ask a professonal kart racer, they never leave fuel in their tanks, engines or anywhere in the sun or out in the open.

As long as you don't get anywhere close to pre-ignition or detonation you should be fine.

I would however opt for an economy forged piston like a Probe, you can get them for $300-350 online. It would be a much better choice.

I have 15 nights on a backup motor with hypers on methanol. They are 4.03 .285 dome for a 6.0 rod. Have had zero issues turning 68-7200.

They are speed pro coated skirts.
