Best head to use?

Thinking about upgrading heads for next year. Motor is in an ump modified. Need some more power. Motor is a 418cu. I was running brodix box stock -10 alum heads. I liked them but they only flow 274(intake) on the bench. Would like to get in the 315 to 330 range. Any suggestions? I keep looking at the afr 235cc heads but would have to get an offset set of shaft rockers, I think. What are guys running these days? Thanks.

About all your really good 23* heads are going to require offset rockers because of the wider ports.

If your stuck with a 23* rule then the Pontiac 867 or Brodix 10x (same head) is as good as it gets in aluminum.You might want to consider the RHS Raised runner steel head if weight is no problem.

So is it better to send my heads out to get cnc work done fore more flow? What's a raised runner head? Sorry I don't know much about heads.

Perfconn, gotta disagree, the best 23* heads out there are the AFR 245's. they will flow 345-350 cfm box stock..with work they flow 365+...They will support 750 true HP out of the box...Will blow away 10x's...the CSA is soo much better..Will require shaft rockers, etc

The afrs are the ones I'm looking at. Do they just require offset rockers or lifters as well?

Does the Brodix -10 take special pistons?

I just have a regular set of je .250 dome top pistons with my brodix heads. No problems.

Mullins 23 degree heads are making good hp for 23 degree stuff

I cant beleive my eyes, you managed to post a reply without mentioning you have an 815 hp 422 sb2.2 .... honestly you find a way to throw that in EVERY single time you post anything !!!

I cant hardley believe 800 hp 23 degree Best i have seen 720 on 434 steel headed engine but heads and intake and shaft rocker package from mullins 6800 Dynoed on rhyne engines.
