Brodix 10's

Have the chance to buy a good set of Brodix 10's. The reason the guy is selling them, he says they take special/custom pistons and he don't have the $$$ to do that right now.

Is that true? Special pistons - not rather he has the money or not.

usually yes. but thry arent that special all brands have them on the shelf. the problem usually is the intake valve relief in the piston isn wide enough to occomodate a 2.100 valve w a 60/40 split. should be able to get pistons for it for around $600 or used pretty easily. i have used wiesco pistons w that head in the past w no problems.

If you know decent machinist or engine builder he can usually take your pistons and cut them for additional valve offset if there is even enough to make a difference. In 90% of the cases I have seen lateral valve notch positioning is only a problem with big lift cams .750"+ and early opening intakes like ICL of 100 or less.

Buy the heads and clay your pistons and see for yourself, it won't cost you but about $5 for the play clay at Hobby Lobby and you might learn something along the way.

It wont work with stock pistons but if you have a decent aftermarket piece with at least .250-.300 intake valve notch I am betting you are fine. If you can't find someone local to help you out you can ship your heads and pistons to me and I'll measure them and re-cut the valve notches for $250.
