our track is starting a new class called pure stock and the motor rule states that u have to be able to pull 18 inches of vacume at 800 rpm just looking to see if anyone had any ideas on a cam. there no lift rule, stock compression and dish or flat top pistons

Not sure on a cam but rhodes lifters will be your friend.

If you are allowed an aftermarket cam then this opens up the rules a bit. Figure out which heads you are running and call a good cam grinder that can design a 18" vacuum cam for you and your ready to go.

yea were allow aftermarket cams just didnt know if anyone had heard so such a rule before and if it would be worth the money to get a custom cam or just stick with a stock one

Probably a hydraulic camshaft rule right? To pull vacuum the rest of the engine has to be in good shape also. Tight valve guides, good valve seal, ring seal, carb tune etc. There are off the shelf vacuum cams out there also if you dont want to spend a lot.Just do a search.

If you are close while in tech, grab the distributor and give it a little advance. Should give you an inch or two of additional vacuum, for insurance

after reading the article soonersublime posted should i call comp cams and see what they recommend or is there another cam company that may have a lil more expericence with vacuum rule cams
