What cc have people been getting when measuring the intakes on the IMCA EQ spec head? They are listed as 167cc but the the recent sets I have are in the 180cc range right from the factory and I have heard of others finding large runners also.... is this a recent thing? Was this a problem before they switched foundries?
EQ IMCA Head??

We are caught in a bind where these are a new head option for our local class but the rules state they must have 167cc intakes like EQ claims. The couple I have all measure like I said around 180 and I have heard reports locally of bigger yet, so we have a new head option that doesn't meet the rule that was added to allow them... kind of a mess. Was more curious how long this had been a problem with them and what the ranges were.

Ya for the class in question the choices are basically 487/991 type heads or the EQ IMCA head. The problem is the sanctioning body I guess has been made aware that some intakes are bigger and is looking into it...... the rumor is they may say the EQ heads must have a straight hole spacer from the 4412 to q-jet intake while allowing stock heads to have a tapered spacer to try and even out hp differences. Kind of a nightmare and mess. And our rules state the EQ must have 167cc intake runner...
What I was really more curious about was if this has always been a thing with EQ, I had been under the impression that in the past the IMCA head was pretty good on tolerances and that this recent change of castings may be the source of the new variations.
