I agree the 1182 steel gm is a way better crank we ran one in a 635 hp 358 for quit a while with no trouble.

bowtie this was before everyone had to have a aftermarket block.

I always had factory cast cranks last longer than the cheap aftermarket cranks.

have the same two cranks and was told the 1182 crank was not good for oval track racing , it would not flex and would crack in the journal , not really sure though.

1182 lot better than anything with scat or eagle on it....

That is correct, oem 1053 steel cranks are too brittle, they don't usually break but when you go to freshen a motor after 15 or more nights they usually have stress cracks in them.

If you are showing cracks in 15 nights of racing with this crank you are overpowering the crankshaft or it was not balanced correctly

Bill Hendren Told me one time that the Cast oem #442 crank will handle more power than the block itself will.
