Distributor problem????

    Distributor problem????

    Removed heads and intake,reinstalled with no changes. cant get distributor to fully seat on slip collar? did not move slip collar. seems like it is not seating fully on the oil pump shaft?wont go down the last 1/4 inch! anybody ever had this problem????? Thanks

    mine has o rings on it and does the same thing. i put assembly lube on it and it will work down with a little pressure.

      The shaft may have turned on you and may not be fuly seated in the oil pump

        Make sure your oil pump rod is straight up. Mine has a tendency to lean to one side and I have to jack up the car and move it with a screw driver to get it to hold straight up. Distributor goes in without a hitch then, otherwise I'll stand there for years trying to get it to go all the way down.

          sounds like oil pump shaft ant lining up with dizzy,...rotate motor with a breaker bar a few degrees an it should settle on in no problem....
