Ok. 2nd set in last 4 races. Plug wires keep popping off the plugs down on the heads. Anyone got some tips or solutions? Both sets are name brand.

Did you use some Dielectric grease on the inside of the sparkplug boots. It helps the silcone boots to seat properly and provides a nice sealing agent. We have seen new boots pop off the plugs many times before once they heat up for the first few times because they were installed dry. It does not happen all the time & it may not be the whole set that does it. The major brands do it as much as the cheaper stuff, I had to help a pro team two weeks ago that thought they had to short of sparkplug wire sets. ( New Just Made) Three of the eight kept popping off until they used the dielectric grease, problem solved!Pat Collins

If it is trapped air in the boot the zip tie will not keep them on, once it builds temp and air pressure it will POP right off. Someone used to sell a tool that was a very small hard plastic tube in a J shape and a screwdriver handle. You could hook it into the boot and slide them on and then unhook the boot and the tube would bleed the air out as it went on. I have used coffee stir straw for it, the better the boot the more it will happen as they do not allow air out thru the boot/wire end.

thanks for all the input guys.
like Pat and usaracer suggested we put the grease in the boots and put the little zip ties around the boots after they were installed. also noticed that some of the metal clips in the boot felt loose so we gave them a slight squeeze with a pair of plyers before we put them on.
they are a quality set of wires and what ego said makes sense, the grease should help keep air from being in there with the plug.
