problem with distrubtor moving with the slip color ?

im have a mallory distributor looks like the msd distrubitor with the slip car when im on the track under power my distributor moves so my timming moves and the car dies , has anybody else ever had this problem what do I do ?

how are you setting the height on the colar? Ive never owned one but guys say you should drop it in w/o the gasket tighten the ring down and then pull it back out and put the gasket on and set timing. The dept should be correct then. Do you have a chrome dist hold down?

no i have aluminum one I will try that I orderd a new hold down from allstar that goes around the neck and tightens when a allen head holds it from moving so hopefully that works also.
