    Saginaw won't stay in gear

I have a Saginaw 3 speed and 2 lever shifter. I race it in 3rd gear. It comes out of gear when I get off the gas. What might be causing it, and could it be repaired in the car.

assuming linkage adjustment is correct...my guess is that the 3 "dogs" as I call them inside each synchronizer assy. are broken. the trans would need to be disassembled.

The teeth where the syncro. slider mesh are worn. Sometimes you can replace the slider only for a short term fix.

Had that problem when I ran asphalt. Bungee chords work well.

The synchonizers and fork are worn out. It should be rebuilt.

IT should be rebuilt and have your builder put a stiffer detent spring in it as well. I do this with all the sags I build
