327 crank n a 400

i want use a 327 crank in a 400 sbc block i was wondering if i can use a 6.250 rod and what piston
or do i have to use a 6.125 rod and u 400 6in piston right or wrong
any help would be much appreciated thanks

1st,..a 327 crank has smaller main journals than a 400 block,..so youll need a aftermarket crank with right journals an 3.25 stroke or spacers,..far as witch rod an pistons im not sure what would be best...

With the 6.250 rod you would use a 6" rod 400 piston with 1.125 Compression Height. The 327 is 3.250 stroke and the 400 is 3.750. So that's 1/2 or .500 and 1/2 of that is .250. So the 3.25 stroke requires a .250 longer rod than a 400.

let-r-eat is correct I have that very motor with steel bowtie heads and a team-g intake in my limited modified. used a 3 1/4 stroke 327 0r 307 crank with spacer the same ones used to make a 377. mine is standard bore which makes a 347 cu in. I like this combo on shorter tracks we ran on a 1/5th mile.
