    reverse mount starter gear

Can I just replace the worn gear on the end or do I have to replace the whole starter? Its a quartermaster. Also ive heard of modding a Toyota starter for which supposedly is the same thing. Any info on this.

Yes you can and its quite easy. You can send it to QM for repair, buy parts from them and do it your self or you can also get a Starter/alternator repair shop do it for you. Parts from QM is about $50 I suppose I can do it for you too if you were close or wanted to send it too me. I'm in Mid Mo.

The toyota starter is quite close and block mounted but the gears from QM will be of harder material for durability.
