I should have made my it more clear. I see kits with King bearings. I always used Clevite til a few yrs ago and started using ACL. Would you say they are equal, better, junk, so so, etc to ACL or Clevite

I have used a few of the king bearings with no problems but I am lid of partial tot he Clevite V series bearings have used them for years in my blower and circle tack engines.

King bearings have a good name out there and they are a machined bearing same as the ACL.

ACL is going through some financial difficulties and might be on there out.

I've had both Clevite and King tri-metal in my motors and have seen no discernible difference between the two after tear down at the end of the year. Don't be afraid to use them.

I had a set in a 406 sbc and kept getting flakes in the oil, after 3 races I tore it down and found #7 rod bearing had chunks blown out of it. No issues with the journal, or rod, no detonation either. All clearances etc. checked good. They said it was a bonding issue with the bearing. Put back together with clevite H's, no issues after that. I won't chance king bearings again, jmo.

From what I read, KING XP for steel crankshaft and KING PRO series for cast crankshafts.

The flaking is a common problem with King bearings. They called it fatige, less than 600 laps on a 400HP engine

i've had the same results with king bearings. had them in my stockcar motors up to 15 to 1 compression with no issues. typically ran 40 nights before freshening. i'm putting them in a drag motor right now also.
