    crank stroke?

Is there a way to measure a crank out of the block to find out what stroke it is. The owner doesn't remember what it is other than sbc. I haven't seen it and haven't looked for and numbers on it.

Out of the block would be a rough guess. Why can't you set it in a block and measure TDC and BDC with a dial gauge on a rod journal?

Measure from the center of the main bearing journal to the center of the rod bearing journal, times that by two.

There are gauges that can do it for you, but a simple vernier caliper will do the same.
