R2C 4412 Air Cleaner

Does anybody know if the offset R2C 4412 air cleaner base will clear an hei distributor on a 302 ford don't want to spend $110 dollars if it won't fit

Depends on the height of the carburetor but it did hit our HEI without a spacer. We did get ours to work with the right carb spacer.

We can only run a 1 inch spacer and an edelbrock performer rpm intake.

If I remember right, the base only drops about a quarter inch or so. It may clear your distributor cap with that spacer. Just project a straight edge forward while on the carb flange and see how it goes.

We can use whatever spacer we like and the base made very good gains so we wanted to use it.

Were the gains noticeable by the seat of pants and on the dyno I've never used one?

The dyno tests were good. We swapped back and forth between different components and always had very good results with the base and filter. Plus, it doesn't leak dirt.

Not sure about any better seat of the pants feel though.

Wouldn't a air cleaner spacer, not a carb spacer, fall within the rules and alleviate the problem?

I'm not sure how well the r2c air cleaner base will work if you put a spacer under it since its made to fit around the choke housing.

A regular air cleaner spacer doesn't work . This is something that R2C may want to develop . Another thing we had happen this year was , we had a lid shatter in the center , around the hold down stud . It was a very rough track , and lucky for us , it happened at the end of a spin that stalled the engine . We have gone back to an aluminum lid . Still using the R2C base .

They also have a 1" and 2" drop base for the carb hat. So may need a 1" to clear.

Not in the 2bbl base. Only one available has a .200 drop.
