Have you contacted crower for that part number retainer and purchased the recommended locks? Are they for the right valve size?

Looks in that pic like the retainers are made for a smaller valve.

I would be measuring the valve to verify with my own eyes.
    BUCKLE UP NOW, YA HEAR?

Ask over at speedtalk.com. Find the 'engine tech' forum. Lots of engine guru's over there.

Looks like 10* locks on a super 7 retainer.

I saw this happen twice at the beginning of this season, on the same engine. Builder blamed the valve the first time, but 2nd time it got sent elsewhere. Had 10 degree retainers with 7 degree locks. Very costly mistake as it took out 2 sets of Ti valves and 2 pistons. This was done by a well known "reputable" builder in Missouri.

looks like those 2 locks are missing the humps

apparently the valve did hit the piston and is bent .
but plenty of clearance, must have happened after the keeper deal

this is what HVH said today:

We found one problem with the assembly. The retainers are .040" bigger than the ID of the outer spring, which is causing a press fit. This may be causing your problem, but it is hard to say for sure. We do feel that the spring pressure is a little weak on the seat and a little heavy open. Depending on the cam profile, this may not be an issue.

HVH also said that the Keepers fit the retainers correctly

no not really, just put together a different package and changed ignitions.
seems to be ok after 1st race, but had some gear problems early in the feature

so you changed retainers or changed springs? Or did you give up on the setup all together?

I just put the 14* 406 back together.
this deal was on a 377 wiith either RHS raised runner 23's or Dart Platinums.
both top end packages had similar keeper/ valve issues.
We had a MSD HVC ignition on it and had to splice in some of the connections, and are wondering if we might have had an issue there.
have since switched back to an old 6AL now, but like I said, looks promising, but broke a gear in the main and DNF'd
