All depends upon the application and the bearing clearance you are running. Most of the engines I build that will be running over 6500 I use the 10555C it's upgraded over the 10550 since it has anti-cavitation grooves in the housing and the gear shafts extended into the cover which is also doweled in place and the pickup tube is 3/4 instead of 5/8.
