    Sbc missing prob

Got a bad missing prob when the 4bbl kicks in.. Was racing in feature. Motor was running very strong and smooth rolled out of gas goin into turn 1&2 and eased back into the throttle and it started missing bad when I'd get in the gas.. Pulled off the track turn motor off checked for loose plug wires etc nothin was loose. Started it back up it started right up idled smooth as can be opened it up a lil it started missing but idles smooth.. Now I've changed plugs the carb checked the rocker arms & the compression and it has 65-70lb oil pressure like always and starts right up as usual. What else could be wrong with my motor?? I'm running 110octane racing gas.. Any suggestions is appreciated!

Could be a bad coil or other ignition problem, bad fuel pump, floats too low, dirt in carb. Revving an engine up with no load won't tell you anything, and it's pretty normal for one to sound rougher when you do it.

Checked fuel pump and filter both good.. Have tried 2 different carbs. My MSD dist broke the magnet inside it few weeks ago so I've been runnin a HEI MSD dist so I'm by passing the msd/coil setup right now.. Changed coils on dist still misses.. Any other ideas!?.. Could it be the dist itself cause it is 4yr old or maybe the plug wires? This has several ppl confused even a few engine builders..

A different distributor would be easy to try too.

Sounds like bad plug wires to me. They will cause a miss under heavy loads when they start to go bad.

Jus put new valve springs on it 2 weeks ago. Checked all them when we checked the rocker arms.. You can start it up and rev it up to bout 2500-3k pretty smooth then openin it up quick and it stumbles/misses.. Gonna try a new dist and plug wires today to see if it helps any. Thanks for the suggestions!

Don't forget the ignition switch. When they go bad, it will not send enough voltage to your box. Changed everything but the steering wheel one time, and it was this $10 part.

Found the problem.. It was the control modegul or whatever in the dist it had went bad. Put a new one in it sounds like a completely different motor! Thanks for all the help/suggestions
