Oil pressure reading with 10550 pump

Here"s what I got members, a freshened 400 with 10550 pump, had about 1.5(clearance) on the mains after starting the motor it has 70 pds oil pressure at ideal cold then drops to 40 after it gets up to temp, when you touch the gas it does jump back up,my question is would it be fine to run and whats the lowest pressure that is safe. Im pretty sure all builders shoot for certain numbers but this is just a shade tree operation with no professional builders involved, thanks for advice have a great day!!

All oil will thin out and have lower psi when its hot. If you still have 40# when its hot I'd say its fine. What oil and filter are you using?

40 PSI at idle on a race motor thats up to operating temp is PLENTY.

My motors never ran that much pressure because we were always squeezing all the "free" hp out of them that we could.
Our min spec was 10psi per 1,000 rpm IE: 6,000 rpm = 60 PSI Eric

IMO 50psi at wide open throttle is plenty but that's opinion.
