In the market for a holley 4412 carb. Have ran rochesters for 4 or 5 years now and want to switch over to the 4412. All steel engines, 360 ci max, 9 1/2:1 compression. What's the best carb out there?

In 2012 I ran a VDL 4412 and was very happy with the performance. The Holley Ultra HP 4412 is the way to go now if its legal for you to use.

never put it on a dyno, but it was obvious it gained power. BUT ive been told by a reputable source that did test it on a dyno, that this set up was good for at least 10% gain and I defiantly believe it. e85 is $1.57 a gal down here now and it loves compression. that's a lot better than $8.00 a gal for racing fuel. only thing is, if your gone run it, buy a tester , there real strict on it being what its suppose to be, but its easy to adjust your self.

SCD has good advise. First hand testing is always best IMO. The custom built carb will be better if it's done by a good builder because all the parts will be correct and the builder can catch things that may be overlooked by someone that doesn't do it every day or the builder will probably know things that can be done within the rules to get more power out of it. The 4412 "conversion kits" leave a lot to be desired, and there are fuel restrictions that a kit doesn't fix not to mention some other issues. Having one built doesn't cost all that much more.

well ok BIG money , maybe your having more fun than me, ill keep putting my old home made junk together and try to keep racing. ive always said when I cant build it my self or about go broke trying to race, Ill quit....and to the post above you, I guess one would have to define what the merits of a good rebuilder would be. I was trying to give my opinion to the original poster , that's all........Originally posted by stock car driverIc.
I don't race to save money and I don't bolt stuff on and guess or hope it was a improvement.
Racing around me is taken way way more serious than that. I wish it wasn't but it is.

Loves compression?? You do know there's a Compression limit on e85 right?Originally posted by fastford View Postnever put it on a dyno, but it was obvious it gained power. I know of a 12.5:1 steel head engine that is running great on it, also know of a 14:1 Harley davison that is running very good on it, that's as high of comp that I've seen, but I really don't know what the limit or max would be.Originally posted by rcstreet1 View PostLoves compression?? yea SLM98, a lot of people thinks that "85" stands for octain , that Harley a friend of mine I mentioned above had to buy 114 racing fuel to just ride it to town, and it still ran hot if you was not careful. Converted the carb to e85 and played with timing and now he can ride it any where and it stays cool and he thinks it makes more power. all for a $1.65 a gallon.
