    Hurricane Irma

Even though I'm a native Floridian, Irma was a Cat 1 storm when she reached my area, so I stayed to ride it out. It was really scary with the constant rain and excessive wind gusts. According to my local weather, we only had winds at 49 mph but it sure sounded like 249 mph (lol). When you have wife, kids, and pets, it gets pretty hairy!

However, we escaped with only minor damage. Some water creaped into a corner of my living room and about 150 ft of privacy fence was blown down. Other than a small pile of yard debris, we escaped relatively unharmed. Thank the Lord we had a generator as we lost power on Sunday evening and got it back on Monday afternoon. We were able to keep up with the weather all night and thank goodness, we never lost Directv!

This will be my first and last time of riding it out! It was not worth the fear and stress. I'll be long gone the next time.

Im sure many of you have suffered far more than I have. The good Lord above protected me and my family from harm and Im sure he has done so for many of you. Very few lives were lost due to the advanced warnings we were all given. Thousands could have been killed had they not listened to the forecasters, and much kudo's to them!.....God bless!!!

Glad to hear you made it through relatively unscathed. I posted on the congrats trump thread trying to see about ya. It seems like time stands still when the power is out, glad they got you back on pretty quick too. I imagine kids start getting restless. Hell, I get restless....

Thanks man! You got a little bit of the storm too, didn't ya?

My kids biggest disappointment was the loss of cell service and Wi-Fi! lol

Our public utility company is the bomb! We had 280,000 houses without power on Monday. Today it is down to 90,000! They had brought in 700 additional sub-contractors before the storm even hit! If only our local govt could be so effective!

We only got rain and normal wind here. Not even heavy rain... The east side of Al. did see some power outages but I'm on the other side. Roughly 25 miles NW of Bham so I was strictly on the west of what was left of the rotation. She seemed to really fizzle through southern GA.

Sounds like those boys were moving quick getting all the power restored bro. I was without for 4 or maybe it was 5 days during the April 27, 2011 tornados. Same as your situation here, I'm glad thats all I had to endure. Anyways, glad all is well... see you at the racetrack

I cant believe your from Florida. Dam... I did like ya... j/k bud. Im glad you and your family are doing ok. My wife has two aunts down around St.Pete and they stayed. Their ok but Idk if could do it. Dont mind rain thunder and lightning but the wind would have me smoking another bowl...lol. But Ive never had to bother too much with the wind where I lived because of the mountains. The worst I seen it here was about six year ago we had a tornado come through close to the house. But it jumped around. No chit. It like skipped here to here. That was crazy. And Irma stayed mostly west of me.

LOL.....Im so close to Ga though! One things for sure, I aint no Fla Gaytor (yes I spelled it wrong on purpose)!

I cant believe your family stayed in St Pete, that's way too close for comfort. I had an uncle that survived south Florida when Andrew hit. He said the same thing I did.....I wont be staying the next time!
